Click the column letter to the RIGHT of the last column you want to freeze.

Excel freezes everything left of your selection. To keep column A visible, select column B.

Steps in text

  1. Click the column letter to the RIGHT of the last column you want to freeze.
  2. Click the View tab.
  3. Click Freeze Panes.
  4. Choose Freeze Panes.
  5. Scroll sideways — the columns left of your selection stay put.
  6. Done — column A stays visible however far right you scroll.
